Reflexiones del Comité Oscar Romero-SICSAL-Chile sobre la participación de las y los cristianos en el acontecer político.

 

 

1º A partir de la década de 1970, las empresas multinacionales se han constituido como fuerza económica mundial, sobreponiéndose al poder de los Estados y al control de las sociedades.  Ello ha desembocado en la pérdida de contenido de las democracias, lo que se ha traducido en la transformación de los partidos políticos en movimientos de divulgación de la ideología neoliberal a la espera de retribuciones para que el sistema democrático no funcione; en la desfiguración del papel de los intelectuales; y en la despolitización de los pueblos.

 

2º En este contexto, también la mayoría de los cristianos hemos mostrado indiferencia frente al devenir de la historia, buscando refugio en una concepción de Iglesia alejada de su misión de ser “luz del mundo y sal de la tierra”, lo que constituye una contradicción con la esencia del Evangelio.  Frente a  ambigüedades y anacronismos, el Papa Francisco ha señalado:  “Prefiero una  Iglesia accidentada, herida y manchada por salir a las calles, antes que una Iglesia enferma por el encierro y la comodidad de aferrarse a las propias seguridades.  No quiero una Iglesia preocupada por el ser el centro y que termina clausurada en una maraña de obsesiones y procedimientos”.  (“Evangelio Gaudium”, Nº 49).

 

3º Hace tiempo que ya el Papa Pablo VI instaba a “construir la ciudad, lugar de existencia de los hombres y de sus extensas comunidades.  Crear nuevos modos de proximidad y relaciones, percibir una aplicación original de la justicia social, tomar a cargo este futuro colectivo que se anuncia difícil, es una tarea en la cual DEBEN participar los cristianos”. (“Octogéssima Adveniens”, Nº 12).

 

4º A lo anterior, se suma la Carta Pastoral del Comité Permanente de la Conferencia Episcopal de Chile, “Humanizar y compartir con equidad el desarrollo de Chile”, de septiembre de 2012, afirmando que “transmitir la fe significa crear en cada lugar y en cada tiempo las condiciones para que este encuentro entre los hombres y Jesucristo se realice”.   Ello ratifica el reiterado llamado a los cristianos a desempeñar cargos públicos para servir al Bien Común.  (Cfr: Concilio Vaticano II, “Apostolado de los laicos”, Nº 14), porque “los laicos no pueden eximirse de un serio compromiso con la formación de la justicia y del Bien Común, iluminados por la fe, guiados por el Evangelio y por la Enseñanza Social de la Iglesia”.  (Documento de Puebla, Nº 793).

 

5º No es razonable, no es justo ni es digno permanecer indiferentes al desarrollo y/o deterioro del mundo, de la sociedad y de la localidad, tras una pseudo “pureza” que proporcionaría el apoliticismo, que no es sino cobardía y enajenación.  Es en este período de la historia del mundo donde nos ha correspondido vivir la fe y abrir paso a la irrupción de Dios  promoviendo una vida verdaderamente humana.

No tenemos derecho a aceptar que se continúen hipotecando nuestros recursos naturales, el agua y las tierras, para ser sólo exportadores de riquezas naturales por medio del desenfrenado y destructivo modelo extractivista y, de manera suicida, aceptar medidas estructurales como son las negociaciones secretas de tratados de libre comercio, como es el TPP.

No se trata de manejar al pueblo ni de imponer doctrinas, sino de caminar juntos en la lucha por construir un mundo capaz de ser la “Tierra Prometida” de un pueblo liberado de las corporaciones transnacionales y de sus socios nacionales, que promueven la hiperespeculación, la concentración de la riqueza, la idolatría del mercado, la destrucción del medioambiente, el  armamentismo, así como la corrupción de autoridades e instituciones.

 

6º “La indiferencia actual, además, es a menudo, vinculada a diversas formas de individualismo que producen aislamiento, ignorancia, egoísmo y esto lleva al desinterés”.  (Mensaje de 49ª Jornada Mundial de la Paz, Papa Francisco, 1-1-2016).

 

7º El Comité Oscar Romero-SICSAL-Chile, siguiendo el ejemplo del obispo mártir, actual beato de la Iglesia, reitera el llamado a los cristianos y a todos los hombres y mujeres de buena voluntad a participar de las próximas elecciones municipales entregando su voto a personas de indiscutible solvencia moral; a integrarse a organizaciones sociales y políticas, y no sólo a expresar quejumbres desde la comodidad de los espectadores, porque la indiferencia respecto de las responsabilidades con el mundo constituye un pecado de omisión.
