Este escrito, elaborado en España, tiene como objetivo ser un instrumento de reflexión ante la coyuntura actual, tan compleja. Se divide en tres partes; pasado, presente y futuro y en cada una se describen las coordenadas de la sociedad civil y las coordenadas de la iglesia.

Para nosotros en América Latina es incomprensible que no haya sido canonizado o beatificado uno solo de los miles de mártires -así los llamamos-, caídos por defender la justicia, y, así, testimoniar la fe en el Dios verdadero. Personalmente no me preocupa que canonicen o no a Monseñor Romero, pero hacerlo devolvería dignidad a muchas víctimas, echaría aceite sobre muchas heridas de madres, esposas, hijas... En él se verían representados miles y miles.

Pronto se reunirán los obispos en Aparecida, y Dios sabe qué ocurrirá. Lo que es claro es que hay que «revertir la historia», como dijiste en tu último discurso en Barcelona diez días antes de tu muerte. Ciertamente hay que revertir la historia del continente, y también, en buena medida, la historia de la Iglesia.
